Blackdown Consulting is based near the village of Churchinford, on the Devon/Somerset border in the Blackdown Hills AONB.

Blackdown Consulting was established by Gemma Sparks MRICS FAAV in 2013. A farmer's daughter, now married to a farmer, Gemma understands the fundamentals of agriculture and provides a range of professional services to farmers, land owners and managers alike. 

 

Having studied at the Royal Agricultural College, for a degree in Rural Land Management, Gemma worked for a firm of land agents in the Cotswolds, qualifying with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers in 2011. 

 

Following a move to the Blackdown Hills and the arrival of her first child, Gemma set up Blackdown Consulting. Working with other land agents and also independently, Gemma has a wide range of experience of dealing with a range of rural work to include:

• Basic Payment Scheme

• The Agricultural Transition

• Environmental Schemes

• Rural grants

• Agricultural agreements

• Agricultural planning

• Land management. 

 

Having experience with running an on-farm wedding venue, holiday cottages and other events and hospitality businesses, Gemma is also well placed to advise on diversification enterprises as well as agricultural issues.
